it is official

I didn't want to say anything until everything was set and official but.... As of August 18th I will be a student through Liberty University's Distance Learning Program! I will be working towards my Bachelors Degree in Religion. Broad I know, but I will also center all my electives on Childrens Ministry. Many months ago God began changing my vision. That or I began focusing on God's vision for me, rather than what I wanted. In this season I've learned many things about what God wants for my life. And what I've discovered is that He wants me involved in Childrens Ministry. My goal when I am done with school is to be a Childrens Minister. I know it will take time, and I'm SO excited for the waiting time I have between now and then. I get to take some pretty amazing courses, I'll get to earn my college degree (MY COLLEGE DEGREE folks!), and I'll get to work with kids the entire time! And when all is said and done, I will send out apps because my ultimate desire is to be on staff doing not only what I love, but what God made me for! Oh man. To me, that is ultimate joy! For those of you who have been missing me, and wondering where the heck I've been, that's where. I've been refocusing what I need to do to fulfill God's true calling for me. I've been online with Liberty almost every day seeing what I need to do next, and waiting for all the fun school things to happen like registration dates, application approval, financing, all that stuff. Anyway, today I was finally able to complete check-in and order my books. It's actually happening! I'm actually able to go to school via the web! I CAN do this! God has been amazing. He's held my hand every step of the way, and when I needed a miracle to come through, He delivered. It is amazing to watch Him work friends. And so, I join the ranks of other online students stepping out to acheive their goals. And yes, for the final time in my life, I am a freshman. Excited and eager to start a brand new semester at a brand new school. This year when I go to buy school supplies, I will be buying 3 rulers, 3 sets of pencils, and yes folks, I might even get me a fancy new backpack. After all, new students gotta rock their style! Even if they do learn from home!

Wish me luck you amazing people! And please, oh please, remember to pray for me. I'm taking 4 classes this semester. Three of which are 8 week courses and one of which is a 16 week course. Plus my baby is starting pre-school this year. Momma needs prayers y'all! :)

this is too cool...

Okay, I "lurk" Aaron's blog and saw this and HAD to try it out! You enter your RSS feed/URL into this site and it creates a "cloud" of words you use most on your blog. It's really neat. You can even pick your own color and font. :) I love that some of my most used words are love, lol, truck, six flags & family. How cool is that? Here's my list, what's on yours??

i got tagged

Yay! I love being tagged. :) I got two diff tags so here is the first:
I was tagged for a meme by Starla. And here are the rules to the meme.
1. Link to the person who tagged me.
2. Mention the rules.
3. Tell six quirky yet boring, unspectacular details about myself.
4. Tag 6 other bloggers linking to them.
5. Go to each person's blog and leave a comment that lets them know they've been tagged.
And here I go!!!

1. I will not eat frozen pizza. I just can't do it. I'm not even sure why but I can't take it. Lol. If we eat pizza it has to be from a pizza place.
2. I love love love sappy romantic comedies that make you cry till it hurts and then make you laugh till it hurts. I'm a sucker for a good Romantic Comedy.
3. I think "The Breakup" just might be the saddest movie ever made. I'm not joking. I watched that sucker and bawled for almost 3 straight days.
4. I love a good deal. I will search for it, and then brag over it for days. Weeks if it's really good. :)
5. I get amazingly overwhelmingly carsick when hubs drives. I drive EVERYWHERE.
6. My favorite thing in the world is a giant Mr. Goodbar candybar. I can not live with out them.

And here are my 6 bloggers that I tagged.
5. Marcie
6. Josh
Can't wait to read these. :)

We're staying over for the Living Proof Beth Moore conference but we know to dress comfy for that. Just not sure what to wear for the Women Reaching Women event. Help! :)

drive-in night

We had a great night last night! It was Family Night at church and this months theme was "drive-in" night. Each family could create a car, but it had to made out of every day items you'd find in your house. There were some REALLY cute cars there! The grand prize was a family pass to Six Flags Amusement Park, so of course everyone went all out. :) We spent almost 2 full days working on the boys truck. Putting it together didn't take much time, but handpainting Spiderman webs all over the thing too forever! We even put 2 little push-on lights on the front for head lights, and made a cool license plate on the back. David helped put together the wheels and painted them. He also helped hold the thing up so I could get the webs all of the the truck. It was so much fun creating the car all together that we really okay with not winning. BUT, in the end, guess who won????

WE did! Talk about shocked! The boys are SO excitedand can't WAIT to go to Six Flags. We'd allready been planning a trip to see the Rangers play the Yankees in August, and now we're going to be able to go to Six Flags as well. This will be our first vacation with just the 4 of us. And because we won the tickets, we're going to splurge and we've scheduled a "Sundae's with Scooby Doo" appointment. Coldstone here we come! Lol. The boys will get to eat Coldstone Ice Cream Sundae's with a life sized Scooby Doo. How cool is that?? We're topping the trip off with a trip to the Dallas Zoo. AND (to David's MAJOR excitement) we'll be staying 2 nights in a hotel. :) Lol. What an amazing blessing. :) Not only that we're able to plan a mini-vacation for our family, but that we're able to make it amazing and memorable for all of us. I can't wait to see the smiles on the kids faces when we pull up to Six Flags. :)

Here are a few pics of the Spiderman truck:

this is the front of the truck, I used plastic wrap to look like glass on the windows.

a full view of the truck, I went back after this and painted the duct tape black and covered the edge of the wheels with black construction paper.

this is the back of the truck, again before I covered the edge of the wheels.

and here are my two monkies sitting inside the truck ready to watch the movie, which was appropriately, Cars. You can't see it very well from the pic but inside the cab just in front of David is a cup caddie filled with movie snacks and drinks. Everyone loved that special touch. :)

my bargain

It's almost a steal really. We have a local site where people can list items from their home they want to sell. It's called a "garage sale" site. It's really neat and I've gotten rid of loads of stuff on it. Perfect way to get rid of some unwanted junk around your house while making some pocket money for yourself. Occassionally I'll find something listed on the site I can't live without and give in and buy it. Today was that day. Only today, I got what I like to call a steal! I managed to snag a dining room table and 4 matching chairs. When hubs brought it home we got busy cleaning it. Three hours later we'd scrubbed, rinsed, polished the table and chair legs, and we'd deep cleaned the cushions. We stood back to look at our work and I couldn't help but squeel with excitment. That baby shines! It's solid wood with a cherry finish. There are a few scratches, but for the most part we've restored it to it's former beauty. (We'll work with the scratches, they'll just take some time) Anyway, for $50 and a few hours hard cleaning, this my friends is what I came away with....

Isn't she pretty! I'm not even sure I'm going to let my kids eat at the table. :) The rug underneath is actually forest green and the seat cushions have flowers, strawberries, and forest green leaves. The Lord must have been tired of seeing us pray over mis-matched furniture! I've had the rug for a while, but the new seat cushions match perfectly! Yay! :) I'm going to go keep watch over my pretty pretty. Y'all have a good evening!

happy fourth

Happy July Fourth everyone! I hope you all get to spend some time with your families grilling steaks/burgers/hotdogs, and basking in God's love! And especially Happy Fourth to those serving our country across the pond and within our own borders. Our gratitude is limitless! May God bless you all, and may you all have a wonderful day!
